Ticketing Information & How to Buy
You can conveniently purchase tickets through the “Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base 成都大熊猫繁育研究基地” mini-program on WeChat. We highly recommend buying tickets in advance, especially during holidays or peak seasons, as they sell out quickly.
- Admission Ticket:
- Adult Ticket: 55 RMB per person
- Student Ticket: 27 RMB per person
- Sightseeing Bus Ticket: 30 RMB per person, with unlimited rides on the day of purchase.
The park operates from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last entry at 4:30 PM. There are two types of tickets:
- Morning Ticket: Valid from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM
- Afternoon Ticket: Valid from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

How to Get to Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding
The Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding is conveniently accessible by public transportation, including the metro, buses, and even direct shuttle services.
- By Metro:
- Take Metro Line 3 and alight at Xiongmao Dadao Station (Panda Avenue, 熊猫大道站). Take Exit D and switch to Bus 408 to reach the South Gate of the Panda Base.
- Alternatively, you can get off at Junqu Zong Yiyuan Station (Military General Hospital, 军区总医院站) and switch to Bus 409 to the West Gate.
- By Bus:
- You can take Bus 655 or Bus 87 to the Panda Base Station.
- Shuttle Buses: From popular spots such as Chunxi Road, Kuanzhai Alley, and Wenshu Monastery, shuttle buses are available for 10 RMB per person, directly taking you to the base.
Tour Routes in Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding
South Gate Tour Routes:
There are three different tour routes available from the South Gate, each with a varying duration. The official app provides details on the estimated time for each route, so you can choose based on your available time:
- Route 1: 9 stops, approximately 1.5 hours
- Route 2: 11 stops, approximately 3 hours
- Route 3: 10 stops, approximately 3.5 hours
How to find Huahua at the South Gate: Once you enter through the South Gate, keep walking straight until you see a golden panda statue. Turn right and walk downhill. You’ll soon come across a fork marked “Swan Lake (天鹅湖).” Turn left, and continue walking. When you see the sign for Villa No. 5, take a right, then follow the narrow path straight ahead. You’ll see a queue of people – this is where you’ll be waiting to see Huahua at Villa No. 6!
West Gate Tour Routes:
There are two routes from the West Gate, and you can also check the estimated tour times on the official app:
- Route 1: 7 stops, approximately 1.5 hours
- Route 2: 10 stops, approximately 3.5 hours
Tips: The West Gate tends to be less crowded, so you can get through the entry process quickly. However, the chance of seeing Huahua is much lower here. If your main goal is to see Huahua, it’s better to enter through the South Gate.
Must-Visit Attractions in Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding
Villa #6 (Adult Giant Panda Villa): This is where Hua Hua, one of the most beloved pandas, resides. Keep in mind, Hua Hua rests every Monday, so plan accordingly to avoid disappointment.
Moonlight Maternity Ward: Located in the panda villa area, this is the primary spot for panda breeding, pregnancy, and rearing. It provides all the necessary living conditions for pandas at every age.
Panda Museum: The world’s first interactive museum dedicated to giant pandas, showcasing the history and conservation efforts of these wonderful creatures. Open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Panda Tower: A unique landmark of the base, the Panda Tower stands at 69.8 meters, resembling a newly sprouted bamboo shoot. It’s a scenic tower, not home to any pandas, but it offers stunning views of the surrounding area.

Shuttle and Taxi Drop-Offs: If you’re taking a taxi, it’s recommended to ask the driver to drop you off at the Visitor Center. Otherwise, you might have to walk quite a distance from the entrance.
