Jiulian Pond

Jiulian Pond is located not far from the entrance of Shixiang Lake and features nine adjacent ponds, each planted with vibrant lotus flowers. The ponds are arranged in a zigzag formation, creating a beautiful tiered effect. The lotus flowers bloom brilliantly, making the scene particularly striking.

Erlong Xizhu (Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl)

At the entrance of Shixiang Lake, two curving mountains resemble giant dragons, while a small island in the lake appears like a precious jewel, creating a captivating scene known as Erlong Xizhu (Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl). The lake is characterized by its tranquil waters, where schools of fish swim beneath the surface, and wild ducks gracefully glide above.

Lush vines and trees line the shores, enhancing the picturesque landscape. In the early morning, the water and sky blend seamlessly, enveloped in a dreamy mist that drifts gently across the surface. As evening falls, the sunset casts vibrant colors onto the water, transforming it into a fiery spectacle, reminiscent of a beautiful bride adorned in a stunning gown.

Wenxiang Bridge

Wenxiang Bridge spans the north and south banks of Shixiang Lake, extending 66 meters in length. Constructed from sturdy steel cables, the bridge is both strong and aesthetically pleasing, resembling a magnificent jade dragon resting upon the water. Its impressive design catches the eye and draws visitors in.

On the northern lakeshore, a crescent-shaped platform known as Guqin Platform rises in three tiers, reaching over 30 meters in height. This platform connects seamlessly with Wenxiang Bridge, creating a harmonious and picturesque setting. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains from various angles while on the bridge and platform.

The bridge is named after Wei Liaoweng, a notable philosopher, educator, and Neo-Confucian scholar from the Southern Song Dynasty, who returned to his hometown of Pujiang twice after the age of 30 to engage in education for seven years. To ensure that children could continue their studies without interruption during floods, Wei fundraised to build a wooden bridge in the mountains. In tribute, this bridge was named Wenxiang Bridge, while the place where students would gather to play the guqin (a traditional Chinese musical instrument) was called Guqin Platform.

Qixing Platform (Seven Star Platform)

Qixing Platform is a wooden terrace situated by the lakeside, approximately 10 meters high and divided into seven tiers. Atop the platform stands a pavilion, providing a serene space for visitors to enjoy the surroundings. Seven towering green pines rise majestically on the platform, resembling seven stars that enhance the platform’s elegance and dignity.

The entire structure is nestled against the mountains and surrounded by water, enveloped in lush greenery. Its reflection in the crystal-clear lake creates a harmonious blend of nature and architecture, evoking a sense of tranquility and serenity for all who visit.

Shixiang Temple

Shixiang Temple is located across the lake from Qixing Platform and boasts a history of over 1,000 years. In front of the temple stands a magnificent bronze sculpture of an elephant, exuding a majestic presence and lifelike details. According to legend, the famous general Yan Yan of Shu encountered elephants while campaigning in Yunnan and later chose to retreat to this area. To honor his legacy, this temple was established. The temple complex features several notable buildings, including the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira, and the Yan Yan Hall.

Ancient Xiangshan Academy

Ancient Xiangshan Academy is situated at the highest point on the southern side of Ancient Xiangshan Mountain, at an altitude of 632 meters. Covering an area of approximately 700 square meters, with a building area of 250 square meters, the academy is a significant site for “Confucian learning and scholarship.” Notably, the renowned Southern Song Dynasty philosopher and educator Wei Liaoweng received his early education here. The academy now serves as a vibrant cultural hub, frequently hosting various calligraphy and painting exhibitions, and featuring local operas on its ancient stage.

Located to the east of the academy is the Qixing Platform, traditionally believed to be a place for observing celestial phenomena. By day, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding picturesque fields, while at night, the platform offers unobstructed views of the starry sky. Adjacent to the academy is the Wenjing Pavilion, which covers over 650 square meters and was built to commemorate Wei Liaoweng.
