Cable Car Information
To explore the mountain, you’ll need to take two cable cars:
- First Cable Car: This ride takes you to Yuanyang Pool (鸳鸯池). Operating from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, after arriving at Yuanyang Pool, the staff will organize a shuttle bus to take you to Yingxue Square (映雪过长), located halfway up the mountain.
- Second Cable Car: This takes you to Riyueping (日月坪), the mountain’s summit. The cable car operates from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last ascent at 4:00 PM. From Riyueping, there’s a 2km walk to Yin-Yang Border, where you’ll be treated to a dream-like snowy landscape.
Do You Need to Take the Second Cable Car?
In our opinion, the second cable car ride is definitely worth it. Riyueping offers one of the best spots to watch the sunrise, and on clear days, the view of the sea of clouds is absolutely stunning. The weather on the mountain can be unpredictable, and it’s not uncommon for there to be fog at mid-levels, while the top enjoys sunny weather. It’s recommended to head up to Riyueping in the morning and save the afternoon for exploring Yingxue Square at the halfway point.

How to Get to Xiling Snow Mountain
There are several convenient options for reaching Xiling Snow Mountain, depending on your travel preferences:
- Self-Drive (1.5 hours): You can navigate to Xiling Snow Mountain Scenic Area Parking Lot 1 using a GPS or map app.
- Direct Shuttle Bus (2 hours):
- Departure: Jinsha Site Museum Metro Station (金沙博物馆地铁站) to Xiling Snow Mountain, with the bus departing at 7:30 AM.
- Return: The bus departs from Xiling Snow Mountain at 4:30 PM to Wenhua Gong Metro Station (文化宫地铁站) in Chengdu.
- Tickets: Available through the official Xiling Snow Mountain WeChat account under the Ticketing Service section for direct buses.
- High-Speed Train: You can take a high-speed train from Chengdu South, Chengdu East, or Chengdu West Stations to Dayi (大邑), and then transfer to a tourist shuttle from the train station to the scenic area.
